Chaska Community Center Youth Policy

Chaska Community Center is a family gathering place. An important part of this goal is to accommodate middle school and high school aged youth. Equally important is that the youth of our community act in a manner that is conducive to a family setting. 

Building Rules:

  1. Any children ages 8 and under must be supervised at all times in the building. The daycare is available to use while parents are in the building participating in a class or activity. 
  2. Children ages 9 and 10 may be in the building unsupervised as long as a parent is in the building at all times. 
  3. Any youth ages 10 and under that are registered for, and are attending, a supervised class or activity must be accompanied to and from that class by a parent or guardian. 
  4. Youth caring for/supervising children must be a minimum of 15 years of age and must be in the same component as the child they are caring for this includes the Playroom. Youth caring for/supervising children in the POOL area must be a minimum of 16 years of age. 
  5. Children must be age 11 or older to be left alone in the building, unsupervised (no parent present). This includes the Pool.
  6. Children must be age 15 or older to use the track, unless in a stroller. Children can use the track on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5-7pm with an adult. 
  7. Youth must be age 15 or older to use the Wellness Center (workout area).
  8. After School Youth:     

     a. Children participating in structured, scheduled after-school activities have no restriction on their building use.
     
     b. Children frequenting the building after-school are permitted 1 HOUR of building usage if not involved in a  structured after-school activity or are not participatin in open swim or open gym. All children must have trasportation to their residence if requested to leave the Community Center. Youth without access to a ride home are not allowed in the building. 

     c. Youth 15 years of age and younger are not allowed in the Sun Room adjacent to the Cafe and Community Room unless accompanied by an adult. 

     d. Youth 15 years of age or younger are not allowed in the Theater/Gallery area unless participating in a structured activity. 

     e. Youth 15 years of age or younger are not allowed in either Ice Arena unless accompanied by an adult or a coach.

Procedures

  1.  Youth will be warned that their behavior is not acceptable. If it continues, they will be asked to leave the building. 
  2. Youth who continue to misbehave will be asked to leave the building as well as the property. 
  3. For any serious or continuing problems with misbehaving youth, the police will be called to deal with the issue at hand.
