June 30, 2020 Update

A note from Marshall Grange, Chaska Parks and Recreation Director:

Hello CCC Member,

I am happy to share with you that the Chaska Community Center (CCC) will open Tuesday, July 7 at 6:00 a.m. Before you head to the CCC, please review our new protocols included in this update.  We have implemented several modifications to the building and our operations to follow the guidelines set forth in the Governor’s Stay Safe MN Plan for Gyms & Fitness Centers.
Our number one priority is to keep you and our staff as healthy as possible during your visit to the CCC. While there is always a risk for communal spread of COVID-19, the city is working closely with Carver County Public Health to put in the proper health and safety measures.

While the CCC has been closed the past few months, staff have worked on several building maintenance and remodeling projects like:

• Remodeling of the indoor pool
• Indoor playground updates
• New paint throughout many areas
• New drinking fountains with water bottle filler
• New flooring in ice arena
• Staff office relocation

Additionally, all the cardio fitness equipment has been relocated to the basketball gym, and the strength equipment has been spread out in the fitness room to provide plenty of social distancing.

Modified CCC Hours:

• MON – FRI: 6:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
• SAT: 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• SUN: CLOSED

The following areas of the CCC will be available starting July 7:

• Indoor pool: options for lap swim and open swim
• Cardio & Weight areas (cardio equipment in lower gym, strength equipment in fitness room, spin bikes in sunroom (workout with a view!) and stretching areas/core work in group fitness studios
• Group fitness classes: most will be held in upper gym
• Singles play racquetball
• Ice Arena (rental groups only)
• Room rentals with capacity guidelines

The following areas are unavailable until further notice: The Lodge, AOA fitness classes, track, personal training, daycare, playroom, hot tubs, sauna & steam rooms, splash pad, lobby seating, doubles play racquetball, open gym activities, and birthday parties

WAYS WE PLAN TO KEEP YOU AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE

• Initially, the CCC will only be open to members.  Drop-in admission will not be available
• To manage capacity limitations, you will be REQUIRED to sign up for your activity prior to each visit.  You can sign up online by logging into your ActiveNet account and typing “access” to search for activities. You can also call Guest Services at 952-448-5633.  You will be able to sign up starting at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6
• Modified front desk/check-in area with plexiglass
• New signage throughout building
• Hand sanitizer stations throughout building
• Equipment disinfection/cleaning stations utilizing CDC approved product that kills COVID virus
• Staff scheduled to disinfect touch points throughout the day, built-in cleaning blocks between sign-up periods, deep cleaning overnights and on Sundays
• Staff will wear a face covering in public areas of the building
• Staff will perform a wellness check and temperature check each day upon arriving to work

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO KEEP STAFF & OTHERS AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE

• Stay home if you feel sick
• Have your membership card out and ready to swipe BEFORE entering the CCC
• Wear a face covering when entering/exiting the CCC and during low-intensity exercise
• Only use the locker rooms if you must
• Maintain your distance from others
• Wipe equipment before and after each use
• Do not touch your face
• Sneeze into a tissue or your elbow
• Wash your hands & utilize hand sanitizer
• Exit the facility promptly at the end of your time block so staff can begin cleaning and prepare for the next sign-up session

COMMUNITY CENTER POLICIES

Please note the following policy changes:
• All individuals 14 and under are required to have adult supervision.  Adult refers to individuals 16 years of age or older.
• The weight room and fitness areas are available for individuals 12 years of age and older.
• The pool is closed when there is no lifeguard on duty.

MEMBERSHIP BILLING/ACTIVATION

The CCC closed on March 17 per the Governor’s order.  At that time, all memberships were put on hold.  On Monday, July 6, all memberships will be reactivated, so members can sign up to use the CCC when we reopen Tuesday, July 7.

Month-to-Month Memberships:
If you have a month-to-month membership, you paid for the entire month of March via your automatic withdrawal on February 29. That means you have a “credit” for the remaining days in March that you weren’t able to access the CCC.  While the CCC has been closed, your membership account has not been charged.  To account for the credit you have from March, your next automatic withdrawal will not occur until Friday, July 31, which covers your membership access for the month of August.

Pre-paid Annual Memberships:
If you have a pre-paid annual membership, your membership was put on hold March 17 and will be reactivated on July 6.  The expiration date of your membership will be extended 112 days, which is equivalent to the number of days the CCC was closed.

We look forward to seeing and serving you again at the CCC!

Thanks,

Marshall Grange
